Watch SpaceX’s first rocket launch this weekend right here

The action began at 3:10 p.m. EDT (1810 GMT), when the Falcon 9 blasted off from historic Pad 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida with the BulgariaSat-1 communications satellite on board. On June 23, the company launched Bulgaria’s first commercial communications satellite from Cape Canaveral, Florida, using a previously flown rocket for just the second time. The rocket’s upper stage is carrying a Bulgarian geostationary communications satellite into orbit. The satellites have joined a network known as Iridium Next system. The Falcon 9 rocket’s first stage booster returned to earth seven minutes after lift-off and landed on a floating platform on a ship in the Pacific Ocean. The company run by Elon Musk said a valve on the rocket needed fix.It launched another rocket on Sunday from California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base. With today’s success, the company has now landed eight rockets in a row dating back to that June explosion, save for a few launches where there wasn’t enough leftover fuel for a landing attempt.Roughly an hour after it lifts off from Space Launch Complex 4E, the Falcon 9 will dispense one satellite every 90 seconds.Sunday’s launch marked SpaceX’s ninth so far this year.A SpaceX official called it the “most challenging landing to date”.The first 10 Iridium NEXT satellites were sent into a pole-to-pole orbit aboard a two-stage Falcon 9 that was launched in January.”The reusable rocket is a breakthrough in space technology that makes it possible for smaller countries and companies to launch their own satellites”, Maxim Zayakov, CEO of BulgariaSat, said in a statement in May. Elon Musk led SpaceX is also planning to launch for the first time the Falcon Heavy, an extensively boosted derivative rocket. The McLean, Va., company has a contract with SpaceX for six more launches over the next 12 months to complete the constellation. But indeed it did, marking another successful stage recovery for SpaceX. This time SpaceX also planned and performed successfully landing of the booster on another drone ship “Just Read the Instructions”.
