'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Bakery Now Open! Serves Direwolf bread

Game of Thrones Season 7 star Ben Hawkey opened a real GoT-inspired bakery. Hawkey’s new bakery features bread that fans can relate to—Direwolf bread.

Hawkey’s wolf-shaped baked product is a direct nod to the Direwolf bread that his GoT character, Hot Pie, made for Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) in Season 3. In that episode, Arya implied that the tail of the wolf looks like a head. However, when she was riding away and started eating the wolf-bread, she turned back to shout to Hot Pie that his bread tastes really good.

Hot Pie did not make the Direwolf bread entirely presentable the first time. He, however, got better at it in the succeeding season. Hot Pie gave a much better quality Direwold bread to Brienne (Gwendoline Christie) in Season 4.

How to Get the Direwolf Bread?

Hawkey’s launched his bakery, named You Know Nothing John Dough, exclusively through Deliveroo on July 17, a day after Game of Thrones Season 7 premiered. His “John Dough” loaves is a slight improvement from GoT’s recipe. It is made from whole wheat cornbread with orange zest and is best served slightly warm with soft butter.

The English actor said he can’t share the recipe for his Direwolf bread just yet. “Hot Pie’s Direwolf loaves are a favorite for Game of Thrones fans. People are always asking me for the secret of my recipe. I can’t share that, but Deliveroo customers will have the chance to try them themselves. You don’t even need to take a dangerous walk down the King’s Road to visit. It comes to you,” he said.

Meanwhile, a Deliveroo spokesperson said they are pleased to help the GoT actor in fulfilling his dream. “It’s brilliant that we have been able to help Ben realize his dream of opening a real-world bakery, bringing a classic piece of on-screen cuisine to the real world.

“At Deliveroo we want to make good on our promise to widen access to the world’s best food, whether it’s from ours or from Westeros. Just search ‘You Know Nothing John Dough’ in the app,” Deliveroo said (via DigitalSpy). The Direwolf loaves cost just £1 ($1.30) each.

Arya and Hot Pie Reunion in Game of Thrones Season 7

Arya reunited with her old friend, Hot Pie, in the seventh season. After he had parted ways with Arya in Season 3, Hot Pie stayed behind at the inn to enhance his baking skills. He was last seen in Season 4 when briefing Brienne and Podrick (Daniel Portman) on the news that Arya was traveling with the Hound.

Upon his reunion with Arya, Hot Pie told her some information about her surviving family members. He said that Jon Snow won the Battle of the Bastards and is currently the King in the North. Arya then decided to head to Winterfell. Game of Thrones Season 7 airs every Sunday on HBO.
