The troubled relationship of Madison Beer and Jack Gilinsky is in the spotlight once again after a recorded verbal abuse of Gilinsky leaked online. The two have broken their silence about the audio recording.
Beer revealed her reason for staying with Gilinsky despite the abuse. In a message to her fans, the 18-year-old singer admitted that she remained by Gilinsky’s side despite multiple instances of ill-treatment in an effort to “fix him” and prevent him from treating other women the same way he did her.
“Many of you [have been] asking me ‘Why would you stay with him if it happened last year!’ My theory was, and as horrible as this is, is that if I left him, he’d do it to the next girl. I tried to fix him,” Beer wrote in a post shared by People Magazine. Beer’s Twitter message on Tuesday had been deleted since.
In the controversial audio file, Gilinsky can be heard verbally lashing Beer because she jokingly called his music “sh*tty.” He also boasts having endless options when it comes to picking up girlfriends. Soon after the Madison Beer and Jack Gilinsky audio recording went viral, the hashtag #JackGilinskyIsOverParty started trending on Twitter. Jack Gilinsky’s Verbal Abuse is Not the First
Beer also revealed that the leaked tape was not the first time Gilinsky mistreated her. The Dead singer said she hopes that her fans will learn from her mistakes and will not tolerate abuse. “Don’t make the same mistakes I did, your safety is never worth it. No matter what, no one deserves to be treated that way,” she said.
According to People, in Beer’s post, she did not say whether she and the Jack and Jack singer have split or not. Gilinsky, however, in his response to the viral video, admitted that they are not together anymore.
Jack Gilinsky Reacted on Leaked Tape
On Monday, the 20-year-old singer took to Twitter to acknowledge his action and said there is no justification for what he said on the leaked recording. He apologized for using such words on Beer but said the tape doesn’t represent his current relationship with her. Gilinsky stressed that the recording is not recent and was from last year.
He wrote, “In no way do I stand behind who I was in that part of my life. But people change & learn from their mistakes. The clip you’ve all heard is from last year. I was in a very dark place, & clearly had no control over my emotions.”
Gilinsky added, “Madison knew if she didn’t help me overcome my ways and change, no one would, & I would never learn from my mistakes. I’ll never be able to thank her enough for believing in me the way she did during that time.”
