Tom Hardy Could Replace Daniel Craig as New James Bond – Here's Why

After the plethora of his success in Hollywood films, the chances for Tom Hardy to be the new James Bond are definitely high. The actor apparently comes closer to replacing Daniel Craig as 007  in the upcoming movie Bond 25.

While there is no official confirmation, Hardy remains one of the top choices to play the most-coveted role. The Mad Max star recently caught the public’s attention when he single-handedly took down a thief in London in a true James Bond fashion. He is now considered as the punters’ favorite to take on the iconic agent role.

Tom Hardy Could be the New James Bond!

The chances of the 39-year-old star of playing Bond have vastly increased as rumors averred that the Inception director, Christopher Nolan, will direct the film. In a recent interview with The Daily Beast, the actor addressed rumors about him possibly snatching the role from Craig.

When asked if he wanted to be the new James Bond, Hardy replied: “I can’t possibly comment on that one! If I mention, it’s gone.” He also talked about director Nolan, saying, “What a fantastic director for a Bond movie…I wonder what the next installment of that franchise would become, and I think when you mention someone like Christopher Nolan, that’s a very powerful figure to bring into that world who could bring something new and create something profound, again.”

Apparently, Hardy believed that if he discussed the role in an interview, he would be automatically out of the list. He was not allowed to say anything about the new James Bond actor nor the film. It would certainly make sense for him to be the producer’s choice, given the fact that he collaborated with Nolan’s production company in some of his projects.

Apart from Hardy, there are several actors included in the Bond list. Aidan Turner, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, and James Norton are among the top hunks listed in the bookies’ bet. The race is still anyone’s game since the franchise remains tight-lipped if Daniel Craig will return.

Daniel Craig May Return to the Franchise to Reprise His Role

Meanwhile, Craig previously stressed that Spectre would be his last film in the franchise. The four-time agent, however, was reportedly being offered $150 million to reprise his role for two more installments.

During an interview, the actor mentioned that filming the spy-action films was tiring and stressful. However, reports claimed that Bond producer Barbara Broccoli convinced him to stay for more installments. So, it could be that Craig will star in Bond 25 before he finally retires as the titular 007. In the meantime, rumors remain rumors until proven otherwise, so everyone should take them with a grain of salt.
