Amid criminal case, Bill Cosby fighting lawsuits by 10 women

Last week, Pulliam accompanied Cosby on the first day of his sexual assault trial in Pennsylvania.Jurors at Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trial were scheduled for more deliberations Wednesday after failing to reach a verdict after two days of discussions that stretched into the night. The first prosecutor to review the case in 2005 passed on it. District Attorney Kevin Steele reversed course a decade later, after more women accused Cosby of sexual misconduct and the public release of his startling deposition in which he spoke about a string of liaisons with young women over the course of 50 years. Prior to those statements, the defense team rested its case after just six minutes and questioning only one witness. They have been working for more than 40 hours since getting the case on Monday. Mr. Cosby refused to take the stand, leaving the case to his lawyer Brian McMonagle who said that, at the time, Bill Cosby was unfaithful to his wife but he had not in any way committed a crime because the #Sexual Activities between his client and #Andrea Constand were consensual. The judge brought Cosby into court to make sure he’d approved of the mistrial requests, asking the comedian if he knew that a mistrial would mean he could be prosecuted again. “And you deserved better”. And here is Cosby’s defense: That drugging women used to be “fashionable”. His lawyer has said they were lovers sharing a consensual sexual encounter.Deliberations continued on Tuesday, and as Cosby awaits to hear the verdict, he is staying positive.Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt has been a central part of the show outside the courthouse.Cosby has been charged with drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a former Temple University employee. They will resume deliberations Thursday morning. Constand testified that Cosby offered her “three friends” to help relax, saying they were an herbal medication. However, she testified that she had been alone in a hotel room with Cosby beforehand, and that there were 72 calls between the two afterward. Constand – an athletic, 6-foot-tall college basketball staffer – said they made her dazed and groggy, and unable to say no or fight back when Cosby went inside her trousers. He made some powerful statements that people either said, ‘Yeah, Amen, ‘ or ‘That’s not the way we are’. “I pray for him”. If convicted, Cosby, 79, could face up to 10 years in prison as well as be forced to register as a sex offender. “It wasn’t hostile. She didn’t push me away, she said stop and I stopped”.Trial began June 5, and the jury started their deliberations Monday night. His admissions in that deposition led Montgomery County prosecutors to file charges against him. In those interviews, Cosby admitted to sexual contact with Constand and said they had previously had a romantic encounter.
