Fox Business suspends Charles Payne amid sexual harassment allegations

Fox Business Network anchor Charles Payne has been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of sexual harassment.The Los Angeles Times, citing two anonymous sources, reported that Payne had been accused of harassment by a female political analyst who appeared on Fox Business. Mr. Payne, who joined the network as a contributor at its start in 2007, has hosted the “Making Money” program at 6 p.m. since 2014.HuffPost writer Yashar Ali reported that the woman in question was Scottie Nell Hughes, a pro-Trump commentator who also appeared frequently on CNN during the 2016 election cycle.”We take issues of this nature extremely seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy for any professional misconduct”, a Fox Business Network spokesman said in a statement to the newspaper.Payne admitted the relationship in a statement to the National Enquirer on Wednesday, issuing an apology to his wife and family. That woman made claims of misconduct against Mr. Payne to lawyers for Fox, according to a person briefed on the matter.According to the Times, the analyst alleges her appearances were cut back after she ended the affair.Payne, 56, has worked at Fox Business Network since it launched in 2006. Shine left Fox News on May 1.A series of sexual harassment claims has shadowed units of the media giant, including Fox News, and led to the ouster of such prominent figures as Fox News chief executive Roger Ailes and host Bill O’Reilly.This is the just the latest sexual harassment allegation to hit Fox.On Monday, Jamie Horowitz, a top executive at Fox Sports was sacked amid harassment complaints. Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson filed suit previous year against the network’s former chief executive, Roger Ailes.
