Salman’s ‘Tubelight’ rakes in over Rs. 21 crore on opening day

Earning Rs 21.15 crores on its second day, “Tubelight” has registered the second highest opening day collection behind only “Baahubali” 2’s Rs 41 crore (in Hindi) this year, but falls short in comparison to Shah Rukh Khan’s “Raees” collection of Rs 23.3 crores. The day two collection of Raees was Rs 26.3 crore and Tubelight has fell just short of defeating the SRK film at the BO on day two itself. On the other hand, Tubelight has dropped 5 percent on day two, according to Box Office India report. However, there is no denying the fact that she is very much a part of the Khan family, as she was spotted eating along with Salman’s sisters Alvira and Arpita, his brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri and “Tubelight” co-star Matin Rey Tangu. If trade pundits are to be believed, then Tubelight would easily cross the revenue of Rs 100 crore in the first three days. Which is why Tubelight’s lack-luster performance at the box office came as a bit of a shocker. The recently released Salman Khan starrer Tubelight directed by Kabir Khan has been doing brisk business at the box office. The film released in India on 4,350 screens, and 1,200 screens in traditional markets, excluding China and other non-traditional markets. Despite being a superhit with Hindi audience, film failed to score anything “big” on the box office. The third day is touted be same as Friday and Saturday. Counting an extra day proved somehow helpful for the film. Most of the morning shows in multiplexes of Delhi/NCR have good occupancy.UAE and Gulf Countries: Film had really big opening with around 6 crore earnings on the opening day itself. His first Eid release was Bodyguard (2011), which collected Rs 88.75 crore over the weekend. His driver, however, did not accept Salman Khan’s claims this time and left the job after the accusation. “But the numbers this time are very ordinary – so ordinary that Bhai himself can count the money his movie has earned so far”.
