Congress slams Amit Shah meet at Goa airport

Hailing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as one of the biggest tax reforms since Independence, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) national president Amit Shah said that the uniform tax structure will replace multiple cascading taxes levied by the central and state government, end “Inspector Raj” and boost economy of the country. Shah, who is on a two-day visit to the coastal state, was accorded a warm welcome outside the airport where he addressed party workers.”From the time, Modiji has taken over he has been introducing new things in each sector”.Earlier on Saturday morning, Shah, who arrived in Goa on a two-day visit, had addressed a meeting of almost 2,500 party workers in the premises of Goa’s only airport, located around 40 km from Panaji. “GST has dissolved more than 17 different taxes converting them into a single tax which will help traders, businessmen and small entrepreneurs”.BJP president Amit Shah and Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar besides other BJP Ministers and MLAs were present in the meeting.This is Shah’s second trip to Goa after the BJP-led government came to power in the state following the Assembly elections held in February this year.The BJP President said that there might be some teething problem with the implementation of GST which can be worked upon. “GST reform will accelerate the economic growth of the country making it a global leader”, he said.Shah would leave for Delhi at 6 pm after holding a discussion with senior party leaders at 4.30 am on July 6.
