Corey Stoll and Kyle Chandler are set to join Damien Chazelle’s “First Man”, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap. Gosling will play the role of Neil Armstrong. The film will reportedly touch upon the sacrifices Armstrong made when he embarked upon one of the most risky space missions ever. Aldrin became the second man to step onto the surface after Armstrong. He also went into orbit on the earlier Gemini 12 space-walk mission that opened the door for the Moon mission.Ryan Gosling and last year’s Best Director Oscar victor Chazelle are reuniting for the movie. Chandler will play Deke Slayton, a WWII flyer, aeronautical engineer and test pilot who was selected as one of the original NASA Mercury Seven astronauts and became NASA’s first Chief of the Astronaut Office.The film is based on James R Hansen’s book First Man: The Life of Neil A Armstrong. Isaac Klausner (The Fault in Our Stars) will executive produce.The drama is set to land in theaters October 12, 2018.Stoll’s recent credits include “House of Cards”, “Ant-Man”, “Cafe Society”, “Gold” and “The Strain“.
