McDonald’s is having Christmas in July. In celebration of the National Ice Cream Day, the American leading food chain is offering free ice cream on Sunday (July 16) across the U.S. To make the McDonald’s Free Ice Cream Cone Day sweeter, one lucky patron can also win free ice cream for life.
McDonald’s is giving away vanilla ice cream cones to customers who are 13-years-old or older. Just download the company’s mobile app, and you can redeem your free ice cream at McDonald’s participating branches. The free coupon offer will appear on the app under “my deals.”
The redeeming period is between 2 PM and 5 PM on Sunday. Customers must present the offer at a McDonald’s drive-thru or in restaurants to collect the free cone. Participating McDonald’s restaurants will give away vanilla soft-serve cones to all customers with or without any purchase. However, according to a news release, the company’s stores in Walmarts, gas stations, amusement parks, stadiums, airports, zoos, and museums are not participating in the promo.

McDonald’s New Soft Serve
The food chain recently announced its soft serve. It is made without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. The new recipe removes artificial additives from all its dessert items including McFlurries and shakes.
In the fall of 2016, the company began changing its entire menu including the ice cream to eliminate artificial ingredients. Apparently, the soft serve can be found in 60 percent of McDonald’s desserts. Meanwhile, several other food companies are offering ice cream for free or at a discounted price on Sunday. Among the list are Wendy’s, Dippin’ Dots, Cold Stone Creamery, and Whole Foods.
