Fans will have to say goodbye to some of their favorite superheroes. Avengers 3: Infinity War marks the end for some of the Avengers, after all. Such news comes from Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige himself. As Feige reveals, Infinity War and its sequel will see the end of some characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Avengers 3: Infinity War Says Goodbye to Some MCU Characters
In a recent interview, Feige shares that Infinity War marks the end of the line for some MCU characters and their respective storylines. Though the prospect of Infinity War being the final chapter for some characters is saddening, it is also somewhat fitting to a certain degree.
The MCU was established in 2008 with the first Iron Man movie. With this into account, 2018 thus marks a decade since the MCU first got the ball rolling. Ten years seems like a good amount of time for a story to unravel and fully develop. As such, Infinity War and the still untitled Avengers 4 ultimately act as a culmination of all previous MCU films within the bigger picture of the story thus far.
“We have another two years of hard work to even finish these movies,” explains Feige. “And they [the actors] have a lot of hard work to do, so that’s all we’re thinking about, is completing those and delivering on the promise of those. Where it goes beyond that, we’ll see.”
Which Characters Will Meet Their End?
But which characters in particular will see their demise in Infinity War? Feige refused to disclose such details. However, it’s worth noting that potential prospects include the likes of Tony Stark/Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans), and even Thor (Chris Hemsworth). It seems likely that the aforementioned characters may meet their end by the time Avengers 4 rolls in as their real-life counterparts are also at the end of their MCU lifetime.
Downey Jr., Evans, and Hemsworth are nearing the end of their respective contracts to remain in the MCU. As such, their fates (and those of their characters’) remain unknown past Avengers 4. With this into account, it seems plausible that these stars may be written out of the MCU, especially given how long they have assumed their superhero counterparts over the course of several films.
On the other hand, some fans worry that this may be the premature end for some of their favorites. Could Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Clint Barton/Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) say goodbye to the MCU before getting their own solo films? Such prospects remain unknown for the time being. Regardless, fans need to prepare themselves for Infinity War and its sequel, especially with such films signifying the end for some of their favorite characters.
