‘Outlander’ Season 3 Release Date, Spoilers and Trailer: Everything You Should Know!

The droughtlander in finally coming to an end. The Outlander Season 3 release date had been revealed by Starz. The network also released a trailer and poster for the upcoming season.

Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Randall/Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) are coming back on September 10. Outlander Season 3 will pick up right after Claire traveled back to 1948 from her life in the 18th century. Both Claire and Jamie struggle in their separate lives while being haunted by the memories of each other.

Claire, now pregnant with Jamie’s child, will deal with the effect of her sudden reappearance on her marriage to her first husband, Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies). Jamie, on the other hand, will suffer from the aftermath of the battle of Culloden and with losing Claire.

Starz also shared a teaser for the upcoming season. In the sneak peek, Claire is seen coming through a thick fog. “I had been on an impossible journey. You can come back to your life, but it’s never the same,” she says in a voice-over. Then, she says the lines viewers would not like to hear: “Maybe it was enough to have gone once. How many people can say they had that?” she says.

Aside from the Outlander Season 3 release date, the network also teased on a new poster the anticipated separation of Jamie and Claire. The poster shows the series’ protagonists on opposite sides of a standing stone that once brought them together. The 13-episode season is based on the third book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

With the Outlander Season 3 release date right around the corner, viewers will first see will the time that Jamie and Claire are apart. Balfe previously said the first few episodes of the series would feature Claire in Boston with Frank and her daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), while Jamie is in the 1700s. Both Heughan and Balfe, however, assured that their characters would eventually get reunited after having spent 20 years apart.

Heughan also teased that fans will see a different side of Jamie this season. “In book three, Jamie is many characters. He’s at least three, maybe four different things to people. He has different names, and basically, he doesn’t want to be Jamie Fraser. He has to learn to fight again, and find his purpose in life,” Heughan previously told PopSugar. “There are some big surprises, but there are also some great moments from the book that we try to stick to as much as possible,” he added.

Meanwhile, the fourth season of the hit time travel-themed series will start filming this fall, according to Heughan himself. The fourth installment is expected to premiere in fall 2018.
