Just as the team enjoyed the Season 3 wrap party, the work never ends as they are to head to the writers’ room for the Outlander Season 4 script. Meanwhile, Diana Gabaldon hints that she would be killing off some of the fan-favorite characters in the book, suggesting the end of the popular series.
Everyone is on the edge of their seats waiting for the third season to hit the television screens. Leading stars Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe recently celebrated the end of the filming in South Africa. On Twitter, the two also posted photos of them enjoying a cold beer in a hot pool. And while viewers will have to wait until September for the show’s return, work is already underway for the next installment.
Back in May, the network announced that there would be a fourth season of the hit time-travel drama. Starz confirmed that they picked it up for another run beyond the one currently in the post-production works. Moreover, Diana Gabaldon, the author of the popular Outlander books, also revealed that Season 4 will adapt her Drums of Autumn novel.
Executive Producers Share New Outlander Season 4 Details!
While the third run is now in the editing phase, Outlander Season 4 production updates are trickling down to fans. The executive producers-writers of the show are also keen on and indulgent to tease everyone with the little new tidbit of information. Maril Davis previously divulged that the shooting for the next run would not start yet. She also said that they have conducted scouting for the potential filming locations.
The next season has elaborate costumes and often takes the characters to new worlds. Apparently, this requires them to plan well the possible hectic production schedule in advance. Not only that, EP Matthew B. Roberts disclosed that the writers of the series have already headed to the writers’ room to pen down the scripts for the fourth installment.
Although the dedicated fans are yet to witness what the team has come up with this year, Roberts could not hold his excitement anymore. He admitted that he has been re-reading Gabaldon’s Drums of Autumn novel before working on the Outlander Season 4 script. It appears like the producer’s work never ends, ensuring that everything is in the right pace and place.

Diana Gabaldon Hints Death of the Outlander Characters and Series’ Finale
Meanwhile, the 65-year-old author hinted that the beloved characters could soon be killed off. Gabaldon, who is currently penning the ninth book, revealed that she plans to bring Jamie and Claire’s story to an end and may even kill off the couple in the series finale. She said that she is only planning to write 10 materials in the Outlander series.
Both the television show and the novels have gazillions of followers worldwide, but the author seems to spoil the excitement when she mentions about the death of Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe’s leading roles. She explained, “I think there are 10 books in the main series then a prequel about Jamie’s parents. But it is Jamie and Claire’s lives, so everyone’s got to die sooner or later – myself included.”
Her remarks, however, does not confirm if she will end her stories with the demise of Jamie and Claire. Everyone should wait for her remaining books to discover the fate of the much-loved couple.
