The cast of Outlander will be in attendance at the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 on July 21 with the panel led by Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan. They are expected to be joined by Diana Gabaldon plus cast and crew members where Jenna Dewan-Tatum will host the panel.
Hence, Outlander followers will need to wait just a couple of weeks more to see their favorite stars and what lies ahead. But before all that, Sam Heughan got a bit of a surprise when co-star Balfe put up some “dirty” throwback photos of the hunk on social media.
‘Dirty’ Sam Heughan a hit with Outlander fans
Putting up throwback pics can end up good or bad, but it seems that Sam Heughan followers went gaga over them. Captioned “Dirty, dirty boy !!!! @SamHeughan @More4Tweets” by Balfe (@caitrionambalfe), the post quickly spread over Twitter and to the delight of fans.
The posted photo of Sam Heughan dates back to 2014 where he and Balfe were unrecognizable if compared to how they look at the present. The image was obviously taken during the first series of the British-American television drama series.
Speaking of sharing, Sam Heughan even got into the act and retweeted the photo put up by Balfe. With the season set to air its third season this coming September, it seems that Balfe may be feeling a bit nostalgic looking back to their early beginnings, according to the Scottish Sun.
It all starts at the SDCC 2017
Outlander fans are excited to see what lies ahead for the third season. The upcoming season will have 13 episodes based on the third novel Voyager with the show picking up from Claire Randall Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) out to return to her life in 1948, ComingSoon.net reported.
Currently pregnant with Jaime’s (Sam Heughan) child, she struggles in dealing with the re-emergence of first husband Frank (Tobias Menzies). For Jaime, he, too, is currently in a struggle as he deals with the loss of the historic battle of Culloden – compounded with the loss of Claire. From here, the plot includes how both Claire and Jaime can get back together again with the adversities that stand in between.
The third season will also be the last one for the writer and co-executive producer Anne Kenney who announced this would be her last stint for Outlander. “It was an AMAZING experience but time to look 4 new challenges,” she said via Twitter.
