Claire finds her way back to the 18th-century in a bid to search for Jamie in Season 3. Eventually, she and the Scotsman laid their eyes on each other again. But before the much-awaited reunion graces fans, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe admitted that the couple might not know what to do when they finally get back together.

The Irish actress revealed in an interview, “I hope that what we’ve done is try and ground it as much in realism as we can. I think it’s really awkward and funny and sweet and endearing.” While Jamie and Claire have definitely kept their love for each other amid 20 years of separation, the reality is going to be very different from their daydreams.

Balfe went on to explain, “I think Claire and Jamie have both had each other on pedestals for 20 years. So when you finally see the object of your love and desire again in the flesh, it throws out everything you thought you would do.” Readers of the books know that the Scottish warrior will have a very dramatic reaction when his wife shows up after her departure.

Sam Heughan Says Jamie May Faint in the Reunion

Heughan seemed to agree with the idea when he said in an interview, “So the character have their own lives and go through all the emotions of grief and acceptance of losing someone that they love. It would almost make a man faint.” The actor further dropped a hint as to when the couple will reunite in the print shop.

The 37-year-old star said that Jamie was not himself for maybe six episodes and didn’t expect to live. He went on to reveal that the character went into the battle to die, and “goes on a big journey from realizing that he’s still alive to finding balance in staying alive to find out who he is without Claire.” With his remarks, fans conclude that the highly-awaited print shop reunion scene will take place on or after the sixth episode.

Everyone should patiently wait for the premiere of Outlander Season 3 in September. In fact, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe advised viewers to prepare themselves for a whole lot of longing in the first few episodes of the season.
