Rivals Hamilton, Vettel clash as Ricciardo wins chaotic race

Eventually, a safety auto came out on Lap 13 and the top drivers entered the pits.After the pit stops and the three retirements, Bottas was still at the back of the grid, but he did unlap himself.Hamilton appeared to stop his auto right in front of Vettel, causing Vettel to collide into him.Within moments, the safety auto was out again for the third time after Sergio Perez and his Force India teammate Esteban Ocon collided.But Bottas had to pit on the second lap for a new front wing, dropping to last, while Raikkonen complained of damage to the rear of his auto.Hamilton was on Vettel’s tail on the last lap, but could not overtake. An irate Vettel then accelerated alongside Hamilton, gesticulated and moved his auto to the right and into him. The maneuver before was not necessary and obviously damaged my front wing.The first safety vehicle came in after 16 laps, racing resuming with Perez making an attack on Vettel who resisted, before another safety auto, the second, was deployed due to debris.The Briton had found himself towing the German’s Ferrari when Vettel went into the back of him just before the restart on lap 19 of 51. But there was significant damage to the undercarriage.When the race finally did start again – on lap 20 – Vettel just about held off the Williams cars of Felipe Massa and Stroll. Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull was in fifth.Seven of the drivers that started the race in Baku failed to finish after a series of collisions during the race, and debris on the track even saw the red flag waved during lap 22. Shockingly, Force India and Ferrari managed to get Perez and Raikkonen back out there. “Michael was really my hero, growing up as a kid, a true champion on and off the track”, Stroll said. He paid a price as well by having slight damage to his auto.
