Sarfraz appointed new Test captain

The victorious Pakistan Champions Trophy-winning team, led by their charismatic captain Sarfraz Ahmed, attended a ceremony at the Prime Minister Secretariat on Tuesday to celebrate their famous triumph over India.Mr Riaz Pirzada Minister for Inter-Provisional Coordination, Mr Ahsan Iqbal Minister for Planning, Development & Reforms, Mr Shahryar Mohammad Khan Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, PCB officials, team management and civil dignities were also present on the occasion.”I am honoured to be appointed Test captain”, said Sarfraz after the news was made public.Pakistan who are the unexpected winners of the 2017 Champions Trophy handed the men in blue a shocking 180 runs defeat in the final. He had long held the T20 captaincy, and took over the one-day job from Azhar Ali in February this year following Pakistan’s poor showing on their tour of Australia.Sarfraz expressed his delight after being named Test captain, and said: “It’s an honour to captain Pakistan in all three formats”.Sarfraz first led Pakistan in an ODI against Zimbabwe in October 2015 in Harare.”I and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq had decided already and I think this is the right time to declare it”. “I will do my best to lift the team in all three formats and will not rest on Champions Trophy laurels”.Shaharyar Khan is confident that the Champions Trophy success will now persuade the teams to head to Pakistan and hopefully see the resumption of normal cricket ties. Even before he took over as Pakistan’s limited-overs captain, he had plenty of leadership experience, having led the Under-19 side to a memorable World Cup win in 2006.The Naval Chief also applauded captain Sarfaraz Ahmed who played an instrumental role by uniting as well as leading entire team and playing as one unit thereby achieving this glorious feat. “They can send their teams first for a short tour, maybe for just T20Is”, he said. “So Sarfraz becomes captain of the Test team”, he concluded.
