NBA Trade Rumors: Kristaps Porzingis Joins Devin Booker in Phoenix

The Kristaps Porzingis trade is an inevitable scenario this offseason after New York Knicks President Phil Jackson revealed that they started listening to offers from interested teams. According to the latest NBA rumors, Porzingis joining Devin Booker in the Phoenix Suns will “likely” happen.

Kristaps Porzingis trade rumors started to circulate after the Latvian center skipped the exit meeting with the Knicks. Jackson expressed his disappointment and claimed the Porzingis was the first player to do such thing on him. Despite having the label as the next face of the franchise, Jackson made it clear that no one on their roster is untouchable, not even Porzingis.

Kristaps Porzingis Trade: Teaming up with Devin Booker in Phoenix

Recently, the “Zen Master” revealed that they are already receiving calls and listening to trade offers for Porzingis. One of the NBA teams interested in trading for the Latvian center is the Phoenix Suns. According to Tim Montemayor of 1580 The Fanatic, the trade deal between the Knicks and the Suns is “down the road.”

The rumored trade sends Eric Bledsoe, Marquese Chriss, and the No. 4 pick to New York for Porzingis. The deal makes sense for both teams as it will fill up the needs to improve on their roster. The Knicks will acquire their new point guard while having two young players who could speed up the rebuilding process. Meanwhile, Porzingis will be teaming up with Devin Booker, the face the Suns’ franchise.

Unfortunately, in the 2017 NBA draft, the Suns used the No. 4 pick to draft Josh Jackson not as an asset to make a deal with the Knicks. As of now, it remains unknown if there is still an ongoing negotiation between the Knicks and the Suns.

Kristaps Porzingis trade to Phoenix still possible

However, knowing the Knicks’ interest in drafting Josh Jackson, the trade is still a big possibility. The Knicks see Jackson as Carmelo Anthony’s successor at the small forward position. Before the draft, there were speculations that the Knicks planned to move up to acquire the Kansas small forward.

After drafting Jackson, the Suns strengthened their chance of acquiring Kristaps Porzingis from the Knicks. Porzingis will undeniably be a great addition to Phoenix where he can play alongside Booker. Both Porzingis and Booker showed massive improvements last season, and there is no doubt that they are set to become superstars in the league. With the potential arrival of Porzingis, the Suns could finally end their playoff drought next season.
