OR dismisses WR Darren Carrington following arrest

Darren Carrington’s time with the Oregon Ducks has come to an end. “We will always consider Darren a Duck and support him in any way we can”. He was previously suspended for the 2015 national championship game against Ohio State after testing positive for marijuana. The announcement follows Carrington’s DUII arrest on July 1, along with a series of other behavioral issues, documented here.Carrington, 22, was arrested at 3:15 a.m. July 1 after allegedly colliding with a pole in the drive-through at a McDonald’s at 659 E. Broadway near downtown Eugene, according to Eugene police spokeswoman Melinda McLaughlin. With Carrington no longer on the team, Charles Nelson and Dillon Mitchell should both be in line for expanded targets during the coming season, with Alex Ofodile, Darrian McNeal and Malik Lovette also potential names to watch for depth chart movement in August camp. He also finished tied for the team lead with five touchdowns and was second with 43 receptions.Carrington was Oregon’s most established receiver and averaged 17.1 yards per catch for his career. However, Carrington seemed to have a nose for trouble. He would not have been eligible for this week’s supplemental draft. We got here and everyone talked about how he has so much talent.”And if we can have a team full of Darren Carringtons, when it comes to competing and playing the game, we’ll have one hell of a football team”.
