'Uncharted The Lost Legacy' Ladies Better Than Nathan Drake? Gameplay Revealed

It looks like the women of Uncharted The Lost Legacy may overshadow series protagonist Nathan Drake soon. This is due to the fact that the upcoming game stars Chloe Frazer as it explores her backstory and origins. Mercenary Nadine Ross accompanies Chloe in the story, and recent gameplay footage hints that the two make for quite the powerful duo.

Uncharted The Lost Legacy: Chloe and Nadine

As some fans may recall, 2016’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End sees Nathan’s part of the story coming to a conclusion. However, the universe continues to grow with Uncharted The Lost Legacy. What’s notable about Naughty Dog’s forthcoming title is the partnership between Chloe and Nadine.

Chloe is a fan favorite, having made appearances in Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3. Nadine, on the other hand, comes in as the villain in Uncharted 4. Yet somehow, The Lost Legacy brings these two together as they hunt for the Tusk of Ganesha.

Besides the fact that the game puts two women in the fore, a representation of diversity also makes itself known in the two characters. This manifests in the fact that Chloe is Indian/Australian, whereas Nadine is South African.

Moreover, a clash of personalities may make for an interesting turn of events, especially since the two must work together in the game. Nevertheless, it is these very differences that may result in a more complex dynamic that will unfold and develop in the story.

Recent gameplay footage of The Lost Legacy displays this dynamic. The game takes the opening spot during Sony’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) 2017 press conference where audiences were treated with their first look at Chloe and Nadine in action. It’s clear that the two can bounce off of each other despite their differences. As such, the game already appears to be quite the promising entry in the Uncharted franchise.

Back to Basics

Of the game, Naughty Dog writer Josh Scherr shares that The Lost Legacy takes the franchise “back to the basics.” He explains, “The funny thing about Uncharted 4 is because it was about pirates, and a little bit more grounded — these were the most architecturally advanced pirates to have ever lived — but even still, we didn’t have quite some of the same grand vistas, of say, massive statues of Ganesh carved into the mountainside. So in a way, we’re going a little bit broader, to bring it back to that slightly more fantastic feel.”

Uncharted Movie in the Works

Besides Uncharted The Lost Legacy, the franchise also has a film adaptation on the table. Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is attached to the role of young Nathan Drake. Notably, the film will delve into an origins-like story. Hence, it will feature younger iterations of franchise’s beloved characters.
