WhatsApp is Getting Support for Send Any File Types

Before this update, users of the chat app were only limited to sending and receiving a handful of file types that include Word documents, PDFs, txt, ppt, just to name but a few. Presumably, the ceiling is low in order to prevent WhatsApp’s servers from flooding with data. Maximum size limit for web/desktop version is just 64MB.WhatsApp is testing on a new app which will make sharing of files more easier than before. The latest feature that the company is now experimenting with will allow WhatsApp users to share any type of file using the Android, iOS and desktop version of the app. Later on, Facebook acquired WhatsApp Messenger and then they have introduced a few other features such as Voice calls, Video calls, file sharing of documents, group images and more. That means that files outside of the now supported types – which include.TXT, .CSV, .PDF, and even Microsoft Office files like.PPT and.DOCX – may soon be added to WhatsApp, making the messaging service even more useful for productivity and sharing. You can even share APK files.According to WABetaInfo, the platform that first discovered this nifty addition, those using WhatsApp on Android will be able to share any file types that do not exceed 100MB in size. It further added that some users from India, Japan, Kuwait and Sri Lanka have already received updates on this new feature. This update is now under tests and awaits further development before the company will roll out it under a mass update. During the time of writing this article we didn’t see any update being pushed to us on either Android or iOS.It’s been coming and finally, it’s here.
