'Orange Is the New Black' Season 6 Won't Feature Litchfield Prison After Season 5 Riot

The recent fifth season finale shatters the world of Litchfield Penitentiary following the three-day riot, and now, many believe that the Orange Is the New Black Season 6 may not feature the iconic facility.

This notion comes after the final scene shows the inmates loaded onto buses bound for unknown destinations. It is still unclear whether the prison will still be featured in the next season or if the entire series will be set in a different location.

Orange Is the New Black Season 6 May Not Feature Litchfield Prison Anymore

Season 5 literally had an explosive, dreadful and cliffhanger finale. After following the fan-favorite inmates through the riot, the season ends with police storming the facility, splitting up the characters, and loading them onto buses heading to different prison cells.

Meanwhile, several key characters choose to remain in the facility with potentially fatal consequences. As a SWAT team descended upon the inmates, the 10 women held hands together in an abandoned part of the correctional facility while waiting to face what is next. It is a question how the remaining women will survive the chaos, and if Litchfield prison will still be the part of the story in the upcoming season.

At a red carpet event, Rosal Colon admitted that she does not know where the bus, referring to the buses where the inmates are packed into at the end of Season 5, is going. Beth Dover chimed in, “We were all talking about it when we were shooting it.” However, she explained that nobody will know anything about the Orange Is the New Black Season 6 details until they get the scripts.

Some Litchfield Inmates May Not Make it to Orange Is the New Black Season 6

Aside from the unknown future of the Litchfield correctional facility, the fate of the characters also remains under the lock. Actress Natasha Lyonne divulged that they are in the dark when it comes to the next season. She explained, “We don’t know if all of our characters die. If some of us die. We don’t know if we will kill everybody that walks through that door.”

Previously, reports claimed that Selenis Leyva’s Gloria could face her final farewell in the next installment. She revealed, “As an actress, I was mortified the entire time. Because I was like, ‘What does this mean for Gloria? Does she die in the next episode?’

“I always think, is Season 6 going to start with limbs everywhere? It’s scary, the aftermath of it all.” It is undeniably true that what lies ahead for the characters in Orange Is the New Black Season 6 is in the hands of the people behind the series.
