'Orange Is the New Black' Season 7 Will be the Last Says Creator, Series to End in 2019

The fifth season of Orange Is the New Black only hit Netflix last month, but most hardcore fans are already demanding for its return to the small screen. Spoiling the excitement of everyone, the show’s creator recently hinted that the series ending will happen in 2019 with its Season 7.

With the Season 5 finale, people are more than excited about the sixth installment. Especially with the prison riot. There has been no end to questions regarding where the next season might take them since it came to an explosive end, with most ladies being carted off like common cattle to some unknown destinations.

Stars Share Spoilers About Orange is The New Black Season 6

For fans, it is always best to go straight to the individuals behind the popular series to search for answers. Dale Soules, who stars as Frieda, recently expressed her hopes for Season 6 and somehow hinted about their farewell to Litchfield prison. She said, “I hope we’re put into a beautiful facility with lots of room and working toilets! Something relatively comfortable and where they let Red cook.”

Red (played by Kate Mulgrew), on the other hand, may face an “irreparable kind of change” in the upcoming season. Mulgrew explained in an interview, “Each one of us in season five has done something less great. My instinct is we will be separated, which will itself be a terrible kind of punishment – punishment enough for Red would be that isolation. I really have learned that hard way not to guess.”

Laura Prepon also shared her thoughts on Alex about the next installment. She revealed, “We have no idea what’s going to happen. I don’t know [if Alex and Piper could make it if they were separated]. Even if they both got out the same day, would they make it in the world? Who knows.”

Meanwhile, Natasha Lyonne divulged her expectations for Orange Is the New Black Season 6. The actress apparently bestowed all her trust on series creator Jenji Kohan to give the award-winning show justice. She also teased that some of the characters could die at any time and they “are always sort of weirdly ready, on some strange level.”

Series Creator Jenji Kohan Reveals When the Series Could End!

While fans wait for the return of the drama, creator Kohan revealed that the series will likely end after the currently-planned Season 7. When asked about a potential Season 8, the showrunner did not seem too excited about the notion.

Kohan responded, “I haven’t made a final decision yet, but I’m leaning toward ending it after seven – although the nature of the show is one that can go on and on because you can bring in new people.” Her remark did not really divulge the official series finale, but it sounded like the story will wrap up after two more seasons.
