Westworld Season 2 theme has been the subject of speculation among fans. And now, a toy company seems to confirm what it could be.
Funko Pop will release new vinyl toys for Westworld. The collectible Pop is a samurai, named Musashi. The toy is dressed in a traditional Japanese armor suit complete with a sword. Aside from Musashi, Funko Pop will also release a young Ford Pop vinyl with a movable face which is very familiar to Westworld fans. The toy company also has Dolores and Teddy versions. See photos below.
All of Funko Pop’s Westworld releases are main characters from Season 1 except for Musashi. Does this mean he will be one of the new characters in Westworld Season 2? Fans have been speculating since Season 1 ended that there could be a Samurai world in the next installment. The theory of a Samurai park emerged after some Japanese warriors were seen in Delos’ lab in the Season 1 finale.
Westworld Season 2 Theme
During PaleyFest in October last year, co-creator Jonathan Nolan was asked about the theory of a Samurai world or other new theme parks in Season 2. Nolan, however, played coy about it and said, “God, that would be cool, wouldn’t it?” Though Nolan only assured that Season 2 will be as exciting as the previous installment, co-executive producer Roberto Patino offered some hints. He revealed, “There will be a story, and it will f**k with the metaphysical at some point.”
So, will there be a new Samurai park? Well, viewers will have to wait until the Westworld Season 2 premiere next year. As for the toys, the new Westworld Funko Pop vinyl will be available exclusively at the San Diego Comic-Con 2017 on July 20 to 23, 2017.
Meanwhile, the filming of Westworld Season 2 is about to begin next week in Moab, Utah and in Santa Clarita, California. Nolan teased the title of Episode 1 in his recent Reddit post. The showrunner shared a photo that revealed the cover for the first script of Season 2. The photo showed part of the premiere episode title as ‘Journey Into’ with the next word(s) hidden. Fans speculated that it could be ‘Journey Into Night’, the title of Ford’s last narrative in the previous season.
Westworld Debut At SDCC 2017
The sci-fi/western drama is finally coming to San Diego Comic-Con. HBO made sure that Westworld would get the best seat in the event, the coveted Hall H. The cast and crew are scheduled to answer fans’ questions on July 22 at 4:15 PM.
According to Deadline, Anthony Hopkins (Ford) will not be able to make it but other cast members will surely join the Westworld panel. Evan Rachel Wood (Dolores), Thandie Newton (Maeve), Jimmi Simpson (William), Jeffrey Wright (Bernard/Arnold), and Ed Harris (Man in Black) are all expected to arrive. Other cast members who will come to the event are James Marsden (Teddy), Luke Hemsworth (Stubbs), Shannon Woodward (Elsie), Tessa Thompson (Charlotte), and more.
