'Winds of Winter' News Reveal 'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Plot Will be Different from Book

Winds of Winter news claims that Game of Thrones Season 7 would be different from the sixth novel. In fact, George RR Martin recently revealed scoop about what readers can expect from his highly-anticipated novel.

Fans have been waiting six long years for the sixth book, a delay that has now actually allowed the HBO series to move ahead of the source material in terms of continuity. Sadly, there’s still no publication date, and fortunately, Martin shares a handy bit of Winds of Winter news on his ever-popular Live Journal page.

George RR Martin Drops Winds of Winter News

With a few days until the premiere of Game of Thrones Season 7, the author dropped new details about the show and the book series. In response to a fan complaining that she didn’t like the HBO show because it didn’t follow the novel strictly, Martin seemingly hinted the difference between the upcoming sixth book installment and the TV series.

The fan wrote, “I know that the show is the show and your books are your books, but I don’t like it. Please, tell me that [Winds of Winter] will diverge from the show in terms of storylines.” The renowned American novelist replied, “WINDS will be different in some ways, but will parallel the show in others. At this point, there are probably a dozen characters who are dead on the show but alive in the books, so it would be impossible for the two to remain the same.”

The 68-year-old author further clarified, “Also, of course, there are character in the books who have never been existed on the show, like Victarion Greyjoy, Jon Connington, Penny, Arianne Martell…” So is that a hint that those four characters will figure heavily into the ending?

This is not exactly fresh Winds of Winter news, as Martin said before that the book would not mimic HBO’s scripts. But then, it is noteworthy that he pointed out that the book, in some ways, will still parallel the show.

Martin Still Mum About the Winds of Winter Release Date

Meanwhile, Martin has remained tight-lipped about the release date of his sixth book. His fan quipped, “I’m not going to ask you about when TWOW will come out. I know it’s hard, like really really hard, you’ve got a lot of things to cover, and people don’t understand how hard writing a book like this is.”

Indeed, it is hard to finish the book, but it will surely be worth the wait. Martin previously divulged, “It is not done yet, but I’ve made progress, but not as much as I hope a year ago when I thought to be done by now. I think it will be out this year. But I thought the same thing last year.”
