George RR Martin talked about the delay of the Winds of Winter release date, responding to the mounting demands for updates on the sixth book in the A Song of Ice and Fire series. There is no doubt that the author is currently committed to finishing the most sought-after novel with a hope that it will be published this year.
While the updates regarding the book are so minimal, fans would want Martin’s assurance regarding its publication date. Besides the fact that he is working on the Game of Thrones scripts, he is also committed to doing a project he started even before ASOIF. In fact, his dedicated readers have been demanding him to give updates about the sixth novel instead of Wild Cards.
George RR Martin Defends Wild Cards From Demanding GoT Readers
In one of the previous posts of Martin regarding Wild Cards, a fan started accusing the author of using the popularity of the Game of Thrones phenomenon to promote his good old book series. The avid reader admitted that he and the rest of the fans are not interested in it. He then asserted that most of the readers of the writer’s blog were disappointed.
With such remarks, the 68-year-old writer then fired back and acknowledged that some of the fan’s statements were true and some were just an exaggeration. Martin confirmed that he can’t keep up with the weekly updates regarding the Winds of Winter release date as it is not his style. Other than that, he assured them that he is still working on the book, but specific details remain unknown.
George RR Martin Hopes Winds of Winter Release Date Happening This Year!
In Martin’s statement, he wrote: “You say, ‘Give us something,’ but it seems to me I have. A number of sample chapters have been posted on my websites, and I’ve read more of them at cons. It’s never enough.” So far, he has released a couple of parts from the book, including the story about Euron Greyjoy.
The American novelist promised that there is only one thing he can give to everyone, and that is a finished sixth book that will satisfy them. He quipped, “That’s what I’m trying to deliver.” He hoped that he would live for 30 more years and write 30 more books.
As far as the Winds of Winter release date is concerned, Martin revealed: “It is not done yet, but I’ve made progress, but not as much as I hope a year ago, when I thought to be done by now.” He further added, “I think it will be out this year. But I thought the same thing last year.” Hence, it is still vague if he can drop the new book before 2017 ends.
