The single-aisle plane can carry up to 230 passengers and competes with the Airbus A320neo family.Meanwhile, rival Airbus said it booked firm orders of 144 planes valued at $18.5 billion and memorandums of understanding for 182 aircraft valued at $21.2 billion.Airbus SE booked 144 firm orders at the Paris Air Show and secured deals for another 182 airliners, including commitments early Thursday from Iranian carriers that still require government approvals. The partnership will seek to capitalise on Boeing’s strength and reach within the industry and the expertise of Monarch Aircraft Engineering (MAEL), which has been providing maintenance, fix and overhaul services to some of the world’s best-known airlines for 50 years. Boeing says the 737 MAX 10 is a lighter plane with a longer wing, making it more efficient.Malaysia Airlines was another carrier converting a previous 737 order, this time from the MAX 8 to the MAX 10.French President Emmanuel Macron officially opened the biennial Paris Air Show, arriving on a Airbus A400M military transport plane.The six orders for the current 777 are also significant, in that they will help bridge the production gap in Everett before Boeing starts manufacturing the new model 777X, Tinseth said.
