Alexandria gunman carried list of names of members of Congress

A list found on the body of James Hodgkinson, the suspect in Wednesday’s shooting at an Alexandria, Va., baseball field, revealed the names of three Republican lawmakers, the Washington Examiner reported Friday. The FBI has swarmed the IL home of James Hodgkinson, combing through evidence trying to understand what could’ve led the 66-year-old man to the shooting rampage at a Republican congressional baseball practice.Five people were injured, including Congressman Steve Scalise from Louisiana, who remains in critical condition at MedStar hospital.Police have not yet release a motive for the shooting, but there are reports that Hodgkinson asked whether the practicing congressmen were Democrats or Republicans.”I had no idea this was going to happen and I don’t know what to say about it”.Sue Hodgkinson said she felt “horrible”.The couple’s daughter had recently moved back into the house with her young child.”I don’t want to answer these questions about his politics”, she said.Scalise, who was reportedly shot in the hip, underwent surgery on Wednesday morning.”We’re just not sure at this time” how he spent his time, he said.We first spoke with U.S. Representative Mike Bost, of Illinois’ 12th District, of which Hodgkinson lived in.The gunman was believed to have harbored unfavorable views toward Republicans at large, including President Donald Trump. In more than two dozen letters to the editor of his local paper, Hodgkinson railed against former President George W. Bush and called for “voting all Republicans out of office”.In the evenings, Hodgkinson became a bit of a regular at the Pork Barrel BBQ restaurant just a few blocks from the ballfield where he opened fire.Wagner said there was no way to predict that Hodgkinson would take such violent action. She also said that when the two tried to get away in a auto, he reached inside and turned it off.James Hodgkinson was a regular editorial contributor to the Belleville News Democrat newspaper, complaining about taxes and urging higher taxes on the rich. The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department responded. In March, Sheriff’s deputies came out to Hodgkinson’s house in IL after a neighbor reported hearing 50 gunshots.St. Clair County Sheriff Rick Watson said Wednesday that Hodgkinson showed the deputy all required firearms licenses and documentation for the high-powered hunting rifle, which he said he was simply using for target practice. And then he started shooting across the field and shooting in the corner of the timber right down there, you know.
