First State comes up empty in latest giant Powerball jackpot drawing

Lottery officials said one ticket, purchased in Sun City, California, matched all the numbers for the grand prize.Lottery officials say the earliest that the single winning ticket sold at Marietta Liquor & Deli can be redeemed is Monday. The store is located in the midst of Sun City, a retirement community off Interstate 215 in Menifee, about 70 miles north of San Diego.”We’re so blessed for this to happen”, said Matthew Alberee, who owns the store with his dad. This jackpot means that six of the ten largest lottery wins in U.S. history have occurred since January 2016. The odds of winning Saturday’s drawing were one in 292.2 million, Powerball said. Before the drawing Saturday night the jackpot was estimated at $435 million.Menifee has about 89,000 residents. His family did not yet make plans on how to spend the $1 million of compensation they will be awarded for selling the winning ticket. The numbers revealed just after 11 pm were 32, 26, 20, 38 and 58, with a Powerball 3.Powerball spokesman Randy Miller says the location where the winning ticket was sold was not immediately available. The jackpot figures are based on the victor choosing to take an annuity that pays out each year for 29 years. The lump sum payout for the winning ticket would be US$279.1 million. No one has won the jackpot since April 1, thus the reason for its large size. Both prize amounts would be before taxes are deducted.
