Iran’s IRGC Warns Strikes Targeting IS Could Be Repeated

The US-led coalition downed the Syrian government warplane on Sunday. Two hours later, the USA military said it shot down the Syrian warplane, acting “in collective self-defense of Coalition partnered forces”.Theresa May has played down suggestions RAF pilots could be at risk after Russian Federation warned it would track warplanes from the US-led coalition in Syria as potential targets a day after the United States military shot down a Syrian air force jet.Russian Federation has threatened aircraft from the US -led coalition in Syrian-controlled airspace and suspended a hotline meant to avoid collisions in retaliation for the USA military shooting down a Syrian warplane.According to the statement, “pro-Syrian regime forces” had attacked and wounded some fighters in an SDF-held town. Those forces, which are aligned with the U.S.in the campaign against ISIS, warned Syrian government troops to stop their attacks or face retaliation.Meanwhile, the USA -backed opposition fighters said Assad’s forces have been attacking them in the northern province of Raqqa and warned that if such attacks continue, the fighters will take action.”What is this if not an act of aggression?”Russia’s deputy foreign minister Sergei Ryabkov called it a “continuation of America’s line to disregard the norms of worldwide law”, adding: “What is this if not an act of aggression?” The official also says the USA does not believe Russian Federation is targeting U.S. planes at this time. The downing of the jet and Russia’s response came as the US-led coalition and allied fighters battle to oust the Islamic State jihadist group from its Syrian bastion Raqa. The coalition said in a statement that its focus is on fighting ISIS, not the Syrian regime or Russian forces, but that it will not hesitate to defend coalition or partner forces coming under attack.Russia’s defense ministry also said Monday it is suspending coordination with the United States in Syria over so-called “de-confliction zones” after the incident. The Ministry stated US -led coalition aircrafts flying west of the Euphrates river “will be tracked by the Russian ground and air anti-aircraft defense systems as air targets in the areas where Russian aviation is on combat missions in the Syrian sky”.Russia, Syria’s closest ally, is now vowing to treat all USA planes in that part of Syrian airspace as targets. On June 8, the United States shot down a pro-regime drone after it fired on coalition forces, according to a coalition statement. Assad’s forces were nearly toppled at that time but Russian intervention allowed the government continued to persist. The agreement was already suspended once this year, after USA conducted missile strikes on the Syrian Ash Sha’irat military airfield in the country’s Homs province in April. Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu later said that the mechanism to avert conflict in the skies between Russian and US-led forces continues to operate despite a formal end to the pact. Russian Federation also threatened to target any aircraft flown by American and its allies over Syria.
