UP cop transferred for arresting BJP workers

The female police officer from Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, who stood up to a group of BJP workers trying to bully her, was transferred to Bahraich on Saturday, reported Hindustan Times. What was being seen as a reaction to her transfer following her argument with the BJP leaders, Thakur, re portedly wrote in her post: “Got transfer to Bahraich, it’s Nepal border”.Ms. Thakur, the circle officer of Syana in Bulandshahr, had arrested five BJP workers on charges of obstructing a government servant from discharging her duty.Thakur was transferred after 11 party MLAs and MPs had a meeting with CM Adityanath over the matter. The workers also alleged that Lodhi was arrested because he refused to pay a bribe of Rs 2,000 to the cops, but Thakur had refuted the claim. It seems the BJP leaders took her words seriously and indeed approached Yogi Adityanath for an action against the honest police officer. On 23 June, BJP’s district-level worker Pramod Lodhi reportedly misbehaved with police officers when he was issued a challan for not carrying documents for his vehicle. This is not the first time that police officers who took action against BJP leaders are being transferred, although as part of transfer of other police officers.Media reports said the transfer came on the insistence of local BJP leaders, who said it was necessary to lift the morale of the party workers. A video of the incident had gone viral and there were protests on social media regarding the strong arm tactics being used by BJP leaders. In the video, Thakur can be seen soundly telling off the arguing BJP workers. “I accept it as a reward for my good work”.DSP Shreshtha Thakur created a buzz yet again by putting a post about her new posting to Bahraich on her Facebook account here on Sunday.
